    The 5-step setup

Step 1 — Open humhigh.com in any phone or desktop browser. The app loads in under one second on a 4G connection. There is no app to install.

Step 2 — Tap the Play button on the home screen. You'll be dropped straight into REWIND, the easiest mode, with the first song clip queued.

Step 3 — Listen for 5 to 15 seconds. The clip is a real preview from the original recording, not a re-record or cover. Pick the decade you think it's from.

Step 4 — Read your score. Faster guesses earn more points, up to 100 per round. Your streak counter ticks up if you keep getting at least one right per day.

Step 5 — When you've finished all five rounds, you can switch modes: BLUR for daily album puzzles, PITCH to hum solo, RALLY to challenge a friend, or PARTY for up to 12 players in the same room.

Pick the right mode for the moment

Solo with 30 seconds to kill: REWIND. Five quick clips, decade-only guesses, instant scoring.

Daily ritual: BLUR. One pixelated album cover puzzle per day, score 0–100, share your result.

Want to compete with one friend: RALLY. Record a hum, send a link, they guess from four options.

Hosting a party of 2 to 12: PARTY. Everyone joins on their own phone via QR code. One person hums each round.

Want to climb a global leaderboard: PITCH. Hum one song, AI scores each on melody match, total decides your rank.

How to play — frequently asked

What is the goal of Guess the Song?

The goal is to identify a song, decade, album or artist as fast and accurately as possible from a short audio or visual hint. On HumHigh, points scale with speed (up to 100 per round), and consecutive correct days build a streak that survives one missed day per week thanks to a built-in shield.

How do you play Guess the Song online for free?

Open humhigh.com in any browser, tap Play, and the first round starts within two seconds. No download, no account, no Spotify subscription. The full game — seven modes, multiplayer, leaderboards — is free with no paywall and no advertising.

How long does a game of Guess the Song take?

A full REWIND game takes about 90 seconds across five clips. The daily BLUR challenge is about 70 seconds across six covers, each round shorter than the last. A PITCH solo run is about 30 seconds for one hum. Multiplayer RALLY and PARTY sessions usually run 5 to 15 minutes depending on group size.

Can I play Guess the Song with friends?

Yes. RALLY is asynchronous one-on-one — record a hum, send a link, they guess later. PARTY is local multiplayer for two to twelve people in the same room, each on their own phone, joining via a QR code from the host's screen.

Do I need a Spotify account to play?

No. HumHigh uses song preview clips delivered directly to the browser. There is no Spotify Premium requirement, no Apple Music linking, and no third-party login. The catalog refreshes weekly with new tracks.

Is Guess the Song fair if I don't know recent music?

Yes. REWIND lets you filter by decade so you only hear songs from your era. BLUR and PITCH draw from a broad catalog spanning the 1960s to today. The scoring rewards speed, not memorization of every release.
